The origins of the Olympic Games

Olympic Flag, first used in 1920 in Antwerpen

The origins of the Olympic Games are dated at least to 2000 B.C. and have been organized every four years in honour of greek god Zeuss. In these times athletes were competing in short, middle and long distance runs as well as pentathlon, boxing and wrestling. Only male participants were allowed to take part and also faced death in brutal figths.

When the Romans conquered Greece in 148 B.C., also non-greek participants started to take part in the games. Probably in 393 B.C. the roman Kaiser Theodosius I. had forbidden the Olympic Games as they were considered to be one of several “heathen ceremonies”.

Small events related to the olympic Idea have been organized in England, France and Greece since 17th century. The first international Olympic Games of modern times have been initiated by French Pierre de Coubertin, who convinced Paris Sportunion to relaunch the Olympic Games. Finally, in 1896, the first Olympic Games of modern times have been executed with athletes from 14 nations.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 19, 2011 —

„Tell me your story! Get published!“

With this online campaign, Swiss sport manager Jens Baltrusch launches his start up online media agency to realize media projects in fields of wellness and holistic living. Jens wants to cultivate an exchange especially with newcomers.

„My focus lies on small, but efficient, media projects with unknown talents, who have fun with what they do. If someone has an idea, I will be listening. There are so many talents out there who might never get a chance to publish an article or a book with a large publishing company or a magazine. Everyone deserves a chance, and with my startup I want to give this chance to people who have passion for what they do. There is only one premise: creative and compelling writing. The combination of creative writing and expertise in a given wellness field is really rare. But I am sure that I will find the right people for upcoming projects, and this will make the mainstream wellness market more colourful“, Jens sais.

If you feel adressed and thrilled to get your name and idea out, „Jens Baltrusch Wellness Magazine“ is the publishing partner who you are looking for.

Federer – Nadal Match For Africa: sportive fairness flushes minimum 1.000.000 SF into charity projects in Africa

With age of 22, Roger Federer created already his foundation with which he supports social causes in Africa. What a great idea of a great sports man to back up projects in the poorest African countries (Ethiopia, Malawi, Mali, Tanzania, Zimbabwe). With first activities he built e.g. a school in Kore Roba and sponsored school and sport equipment for youngsters.

For me it has a symbolic value that one of the greatest rivalries in sport history gathers so much money for social causes (besides, it seems the rivalry has a more sportive nature, not a personal one): the need for help of other people appears to be in the foreground.

For me, sportive fairness has today, during the first leg in Zurich, and tomorrow, during the return match in Madrid, a much bigger meaning than just the respect for the opponent. Just imagine how many people could be supported during the next years if all sport stars would support similar projects! The very media impact of the role models would increase donations enormously.

Having said this I send my regards to this unique players – good luck for the matches and upcoming projects!
