What was the most interesting project you have implemented?
I write books about fitness training and published my first book in the beginning of 2010. Partially with this material, and new ideas, I have cooperated with a German fitness magazine and several online magazines. For me it was exciting to see that I can do something good with my skills as a personal trainer and that I can reach many people with my ideas though different marketing channels.
What was the most difficult experience you have had with a customer?
I have sometimes difficult situations in training sessions with personal training clients, which are mostly about training content and service quality. Over the years as a trainer, you get the skills to handle that. I would not outline a specific situation, because they all seem to me similar. My customers demand great training sessions or high quality training products, and from critics I try to learn and grow.
What was the biggest challenge that you had to face?
When I came to Switzerland, first it was hard to get into the market. The sport and fitness market here is small, but I was eager to succeed because I wanted to stay here with my spouse for some years. My idea was and still is to build up a sport multi media company. First, of course, you have to gather money to be able to start a new business. So I started to do all kinds of jobs in the fitness area just to make a living. Meanwhile, I work for one of the finest spa resort hotels in Zurich/Switzerland as a personal trainer, and cooperate with several online magazines and a print magazine. It is the feeling of having achieved something, even though my goals are set much higher.
Looking back, I would say the challenge was to focus my goal and hold on to it even if I was doubtful sometimes. The hardest part with reaching a high goal, in my eyes, is getting through the hard time and keeping the fresh energy.
Now I now that it is possible to realize what I really want if I deeply believe in my dreams and work hard on myself to keep motivated and develop my skills further.
Are there customers for whom you would not work?
No, basically I would work with anyone, as long as the project appeals to me and the cooperation is a fair trade.
Who is the client of your dreams?
I want to produce innovative health products and services, such as multi media content, seminars and workshops, speeches and wellness events. For me as a personal trainer and sport manager, one of the main motivations is helping other people to organize a healthy lifestyle.
Of course, I also would like to produce training videos with prominent figures from sport and entertainment in cooperation with suitable sponsors.
So, any client who wants to collaborate with me in one of these areas and realize innovative products and services is the client of my dreams!
Which characteristics distinguish your dream team?
The people with whom I like to work are honest, dedicated, sportive and have a good sense of humour. I think if you are surrounded by people who support your ideas, but on the other hand stay little bit critical, give lots of fresh input to realize the project and do not let you down in difficult situations, that would make up my dream team.
What was your best performance for free?
Normally I do not work for free, but I would do that e.g. for a social cause which has a meaning to me. Otherwise, I also have to pay the bills.
How long have you been in the business?
I started to work as a personal trainer in 1999, when I was studying physical education in Germany. Since then, I gathered experience in my job in different countries.
How many times have you changed your specialization?
I started to study engeneering, but soon I figured out that my dedication and best work ethics was based in sports. Since I am 5 years old, when my parents send me to my first athletic training session together with my sister, I am involved in sports and an active lifestyle. I found in that more than just a hobby, it was all my life was about.
Can you imagine to take another job?
Why not? I want to continue to develop my professional skills in my field. As long as my health situation allows, I want to continue my work as personal trainer and use my experience to help other people getting and staying active and healthy.
But of course, as the years pass by and you get older, you have to find different subjects in sports or related fields, such as the wellness resort industry or product development, production and marketing, to make sure your career develops further.
Besides this, I am always open for new projects and tasks where I can apply my know-how or also make a new experience and enlarge my personal and professional horizon.
What do you do in 10 years?
I see myself running my own international sport multi media and product development company with exciting projects all over the world. I want to reach out and promote a healthy lifestyle more effectively in cooperation with people and organizations who or which are as passionate about the topic as I am.
