Philosophy of the Wellness Centre

The focus is on the human touch : all our treatments are performed manually, no machines are used.

The basic concept is that the treatments offered by our Wellness Centre must strike a balance in between the emotional sphere and the aesthetical sphere.
There is a section of the Wellness Centre menu devoted to all kinds of massages and body treatments to please the sensorial and emotional needs of our guests’ seeking for ultimate relaxation and pampering. Furthermore, the Wellness Centre menu also presents a plethora of treatments catering for aesthetical requirements i.e. Facials. Our guests also long for immediate, aesthetical benefits: think of our ‘Collagen and Hyaluronic Facial’ or ‘Age repair Facial’ among others.

Which influences melt together in your Wellness Centre philosophy?

We aim at blending Eastern & Western massages techniques: something that is clear from the Wellness Centre Menu treatments.

For example, this year we have launched the ‘Stressless Room’ one of our three cabins in the Wellness Centre where you can do Personal Stretching or Breathing prior to your Massage. We offer exotic treatments like the Rassoul Ritual, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology along with treatments which are more traditional like the ‘Intensive Muscle Release’ or aesthetical treatments like the facials.
We also have Sauna, Steam Bath and Fitness Room in a separate location from the Wellness Centre. These are to be found near the Pool area.

How do you manage to implement the philosphy in every day work life?

There is a huge passion in what we do, the idea that we must provide positive energy and pass it on to our guests during a treatment. They come on vacation to Portofino and to the Splendido to unwind and take a break from their busy lives and we assist them in achieving ultimate relaxation. The Splendido Wellness Centre is part of one of the finest hotels in Italy, highly recognised internationally (Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards, n. 1, Overseas Leisure Hotels Category for Europe, Asia Minor and the Russian Federation, September 2010) therefore our standard of maintaining excellence at all times is vital also in the management of the Wellness Centre.

Architecture and interior design of the Wellness Centre

In which way does the philosophy of your Wellness Centre influence the architecture or interior design of your facility?

We would describe our Wellness Centre as elegant, bright, peaceful. On one side there is the Regional Park of Portofino, and on the other the outstanding outdoor relax area (as well as the Garden Massage area) overlooking the Portofino Bay. Our guests come to us to unwind, they find exactly what they are looking for.

How do you create an atmosphere which is conform to your Wellness Centre philosophy?

Music, candles, natural scents from the surrounding gardens (especially if the guests are enjoying a Garden Massage). The sensorial dimension is paramount. What is also extremely important is the staff, our 6* star, which offers an amazing service in a peaceful, soothing environment, conveying positive energy to our guests.

Services and team of the Wellness Centre

Please describe the services of your Wellness Centre in few words and how the services are influenced by your philosophy

There is a section of the Wellness Centre menu devoted to all kinds of massages and body treatments to please the sensorial and emotional needs of our guests’ seeking for ultimate relaxation and pampering. Furthermore, the Wellness Centre menu also presents a plethora of treatments catering for aesthetical requirements i.e. Facials. Our guests also long for immediate, aesthetical benefits: think of our ‘Collagen and Hyaluronic Facial’ or ‘Age repair Facial’ among others.
We have a section of the Wellness Centre Menu devoted to children treatments, as well as family treatments such as the Mother and Daughter Wellness Package or the Family Yoga. Our approach is to welcome all and have all the members of the family find their way to wind down at the Splendido.

Couples are also hugely important to cater for: Splendido is a typical honeymoon/anniversary/proposal destination. That is why we offer couples’ massages and couples’ massages classes, honeymoon and anniversary packages.

How would you describe the choice and composition of personalities and professions in your Wellness Centre team?

Our team is made up of people who strive for excellence and are in love with their job.

How do you / your resort / your Wellness Centre make a difference to your guests?

Our aim is to personalize the service at all times. If a guest has a specific request or has a special need, we seek to satisfy them in the best way possible. If they ask for something special which is not on the Wellness Centre menu and we are able to do it, we are delighted to think outside of the box and customize a treatment.
